COCA COLA MILKSHAKE

coca cola
milkshake clouds
saturate
an umber lid of sky

w   i   d   e

as a road movie
highway horizon

where the distant city
is a crust edge
of stale comestible
&
your wake
a diaspora tail

BACKLIT CHEESE QUEST

the fridge saw
my night
was sandpaper

& it
backlit
my cheese quest

its lack of judgement
belied
by portentous design

PAPER IS INFINITE, PENS AT THE FRONT

1.

life is real
like hypochondria is real

& just as hard to know
how to properly approach

2.

the counter culture
eats its own
with tofu & temazepam

when power grabs
logjam logjam logjam
up its fuzzy intent

~

please discuss one of the above
you have two weeks
paper is infinite
free pens at the front

THO I UNDERSTAND RITUAL

its a wonderful world
sinful & selfless
boring & beautiful

we need binmen
utilities & art
shelter & tools

& tho i understand ritual
i dont see a need for kings

HEAVEN IN A MORNING NUTSHELL

a slow piano song
with a hook just for you
comes from the postmans radio

& the sun comes out
you didnt expect that
mind on something else

& it casts ghost lines
out the vanishing points
of the bushes gentle spaces

& they flicker
like a movie laser
in the atmospheres dust & vapour

you only sat
on a simple chair
by an open streetside window

& you didnt expect this
not this heaven
here in a morning nutshell

IT WAS THE SUIT DID IT

without telling you
my calendar age
please take my word for it
when i say
i saw myself
there in the the mirror today
for maybe the first time
saw not only
the approximation
of a full grown man
but
one
also
still
deep in the uphill drag
on
the
tilt & slide of the earth

~

it was the suit did it
pinning me down
in a pigeon hole
&
pulling my frays inside

PEP TALK ON THE BOG

i find
more poetry
in pulp novels

than in the dense clumps
of history approved posey
thick with forced meter
& accurate apostrophes

i dont want a history lesson
or a syntax lecture
just to glean a misty gist

i need a pep talk on the bog

of go go go

& do do do

in these poems sometimes

to make sure the reader

can

b r e a t h e

&

s l o w   d o w n

when they come here

cos you should you know

FRAG 9

maybe all the
code we spew
is residual pride

listen out for
those sonar blips
of self deception

& name them plausible deniability

ready
for if we
lose our stones
in the therapists office

DIGRESSES WITH REMINISCES

the orator
drops his paper
reading some prayer about shepherds

& he digresses
with reminisces
about his own sheep farming days

there is no conviction
in his blunt diction
when he says

sheep are stupid
they turn their toes up
at any old thing

at the funeral
we were at
last thursday noon

JUST SO MUCH PAPER

my
cardboard folder of poems
was
suddenly just so much paper

& i took my hand
to the train station home

in the tunnel vision
of october dusk

the
city laughing
in
alfresco clots

ACRYLIC ONION

the emperors
    new clothes

be a wardrobe
    malfunction

in these
    acrylic onion days

& thinking kids

snapchat exposé

be pixel dust
    for the webside dozer

TWO MOVIE BUTTERFLY SCENES

the journalist
fresh from the pacific surf
heading down a jungle path

regards a blue one
almost see-thru
on his raised hand

its a scene to show how relaxed he is
in a war zone with still wet clothes

~

the hit man says
dont move
as a white one alights
on his clients pale sleeve

its a secluded place
with a sparkling river
its endangered he says
guarded eyes looking away

its a scene to show theres more to him
than repositioning an m14s fulcrum
to balance out the bulky suppressor

SOFT FIST SCHEDULE

& winters
iron back
is broken
by
the
soft fist schedule
of
springs bulbs & buds

~

a double daffodil
much more yellow
than its ivory fellows
is alone in facing
to the east

BIG POLICE TAXI

late last night
i heard the tent fabric tear
& a big police taxi
took away my dna & heir

ooh bop-bop-bop
ooh bop-bop-bop (na-na-na-na-na)

they razed
the parking lot
that paved paradise
put up a server farm

with a laminated strip mall
a doomsday clock
a food-riot alarm

ooh bop-bop-bop
ooh bop-bop-bop (na-na-na-na-na)

NURSERY RHYME FRAG

the cat ran away
from the window cleaners

& i crushed up pills
with a spoon

thieves drove off
with next doors car

under a dirty pearl moon
