PARTY, PART 2

i use the shower 

no towel anywhere

the cupboards are empty but for smells

so

i drip dry 

naked

standing there on 1980s carpet

naked

look at the phone

and realise

ANYONE in the world could ring in here

and

talk to me

look out the window

and realise

ANYONE in Kings Cross

can see me in here

shower fresh 

and 

bare

i use the bedspread as a towel

its thin

does half a job

and i stretch out on the bare sheets

look at the door

(its silent/its blank/its a question)

over my balls and bits 

and 

my stomachs heaving

and 

my white feet seem alien clear

hair sleek

from the hot shower

look at the door/its back to me

rude or respectful?

i wonder 

if its locked

and realise

anyone in the World could come in here . . .
