MOVIE

i am lit like a movie
dramatically
mysteriously
make-up professionally applied

a classic is on tv/on mute
becomes
art

while
t. waits growls/twangs like the apocalypse/like a farmyard
like
an
old
and
weird america

i despair/self indulgently despair – says the script
it is
raining/evening/you sit soul searching and drunk

my
lines
read;

where are the mistletoe nurses of Christmas myth?
where are the nurses promised by a Carry On childhood?

(a childhood with a voice over by James Garner/a comforting and genial whine)

muted classic's silence is enormous/a dumb elephant
invisible
in
the
late night

t. waits melancholy is epic
the script claims
i
should
say
AT LAST I FOUND THE VOICE OF THE ANTI-CHRISTMAS!

i am lit like a movie/this is time
caught forever
by the man taking the stills
a heavy snapshot
loaded
