AT THE MORNING DESK

clock in
&
hammer down
&
type up the giants in the mist

~

the level of fruitlessness

that could
end this
meat reportage

i have yet to discover

JOY OR MIGRAINE, A BOTOX QUESTION

what
crucial nuance extrapolation
will
the
babies not timely
learn
from
that
one everyday expression
mum
&
dad
do
all the clock round
no
matter
the migraine or joy

HOSPITAL POP

furious & cold
black swan moments

simple as a singsong hello
simple as a clock on the wall

crash in
upend you

in the early morning wards
wonderful smell of toast

OR BUBBLEGUM

but was a baby
like we all were

before
being

s t r e t c h e d

on
the
rack of the world

like a dali clock
or bubblegum

& pumped full of filler
& cheap grout that stains

~

always
wondering
what day
today is
how it was
that we used to know

PADDED OUT WITH DEJA VU

forever has lost its reach
&
is padded out with deja vu

repeat myself
repeat myself
repeat myself

going round
like a clock
goes round

bloody allergy nostrils
flaring again
in spring again

at the redolence of murdered grass

WHERE SANITY TUCKED ITS FEET

i feel
its like
as if
times been being

s t r e t c h e d

instead
of its
regular
subjective
slide

~

i felt
its tension
let loose

i felt
it crash
into tender places

upsetting the dinner table
where sanity tucked its feet

~

the clocks i thought
that measured time
see hurrying now
to
just keep up

STOLE OURSELVES

the clock thuds

fekking lump hammer on my anvil skull

anvil ?
fekking salmonella eggshell

but
its not its fault -
i put the battery in it
like i can measure time

our arrogance !
mine . . .

do the clocks thud like this
across town ?

taking
taking
taking

everybodys lovetime away

~

countdown & reminder
black choppers incoming
failing plumbing

the clock thuds
thud thud thud

deaths footfalls - ha !
why not ?

or
just

another
reductive
machine

we stole ourselves with

TIME DIAGRAM 3

in this clock plague of turbo instants
all there is to do
is blink & hope for

please
please
please

not me
not yet
not NOW

& accept the heavy sadness
of the ruined bodies fall

SINCE THE VOICES I HEARD

my
passenger seat
blue moonface
dead gazes at
the time-slip ebay clocks
ticking ticking ticking
relentless & showing

how
long
its
been
since the voices i heard
over my shoulder
when we were hanging
gaming & green blowing

were
meatworld
here

raw nerve slaying
burr edge dulling

our
bad run
warm rum

EMPTY TICK CLOCK

fridge hums
clock ticks
cat wheezes

and repeat

outside -

flatbed truck rattles
tracksuit kid rings a hand bell
sky is underfelt or discarded iron

and when i get my boots on
and get myself out there
the
wind
is
uncertain - it has no nose today
and
only
blows
round
corners

MODERN TIME

the knock-tick clock
is
round and translucent and rests off-centre
on hospital windowsill

it
lets light thru in a moon glow

its meaning is evasive - a strange machine
no
interesting
intricate
workings whirling inside

only a blunt power cell grey in its belly

NICEDAY says it simple brand propaganda

while
outside
the silent fixed window
weightless blossom
floats
aimless
free and mysterious
white with a diffused moon glow

AS I SAID TO THE JUDGE . . .

sometimes theres a looseness
in the mornings

like the clocks
are unteethered

and it could be anywhere and at anytime
like
an
eternal
classroom
forever

and i MUST hold on tight to someone
so
i
dont
fall
off the world
