LONDONS ESTUARY BIN / ALL HAIL TRAFFIC

britain
ever
unruined ?

dodging potholes my whole life

long shadows on village green
soon build
clusterfuck
miniature flats
there

no cupboards
ground level balconies
four inches from bus queue

good access to unkillable bookies
see three from this library bench
one eye shut
half library shut

could be landfill
that village green
or plague pit

a dick turpin gallows
rotted in rain

( the peasants revolted here
you should see them now )

or proposed site
of more sth east
thames crossing
cement matrix

all hail traffic
driven driverless

jesus

they paved paradise
and put up a robot motorway

ha

they paved industry
and put up another pound shop

ha

hmm

shit

hello lake district
may we live in denial
on your misty shores ?

please

PAST POP

well
all my past days

they climb out of storage all the time

and
riot
across
a
quiet
mornings
armchair
and
book

well
its like one of those scenes
in a movie
where an alien or a robot
is
catching
up
on
our
history

epileptic images
on a tv or a pc

bombs riots gandi lennon

and inevitably they are confused and very sad

its all too much
isnt it ?

too much has happened
to
us
all

BEAT THEM UP GUTLESS

scribble all these words
on
the backs of scrips
and
coffee shop receipts
and
theyre not poems
but
i want them to be

so
i beat them and i bully them
i bash them and shove them around
and
i
get
something soul-less
something mechanical
something like to-do list
for
anxious robots
on

philosophy jag

im blaming the scribble words
when
its
me
whos gutless in the sandpit
playing god with my own turds

i start again
with
the force of heart and faith in the hub
and
wash my mind in coffee
and
freezing iced water
and
instead of lunch
i
stand naked outside
on
natures green patio
waiting
for
heavy industrial rain
