ABOUT A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT

in the drs office
i attempt to

properly absorb her words

but i realise 10 mins in  

i am only intent

on looking 

like i am listening

nodding & lip pursing & going hmmm 

& now all i am thinking
is about this pretence

i am trapped inside of

& that breaks a cold sweat

& i wonder too 

if shes twigged

my accidental pantomime 

or is she on 

rote autopilot

& worrying about her washing

out on the line & limp in the grey

i am included now
when my appetites 

had hit the wall

SABBATH OUT MY EARS

i cant remember
what the old lady
on the bus
was telling me
but i know
i told her
to tell it
to her sons
& her doctor too

she said / tiny voice / wet eyes
i nodded / smiled / got off

it was long ago
she must be dead now

&

i hope she knows
i took sabbath 

out my ears
