OUTSIDE THE DEATH MACHINES GLOW

had a new sweatshirt
          bought for holiday wear

had a golden footballer
sewn there on its brown tit

i can still almost smell it
feel the freshness / the treat

      if  i  think  hard  enough

~

was a summer dusk walk
           under seaside streetlights

197? &
i  can  still  almost  live  it

if relax enough
           into the backward flux

outside the
           death machines glow

AUTUMN ANATOMY - GUTTER CLOTS OF NEVERMIND

its static fire
&
earth-tone rainbow

its crisp orange
&
ruby picasso

form
gutter clots
of nevermind

~

its impossible yellows
have
a
sternness to throw away

&
its valuable contacts
are a basic concern

~

fresh
flesh
dew
embalmed

form
gutter clots
of nevermind

decorating
in cocky blank statement

~

its art - earth installed

&
it covers the plastic litter

uv'd as brittle
as carehome bones

with
gutter clots
of nevermind

RUSSIA CALLING

i want
to breath
that blank
russian air again

want to dwarf myself
in eternal foyers
too brown
to echo

want to smell the diesel
melt the snow
in
the
imposition streets

want to see
the grey domino
city scrape
thru
the
bad glass
twentieth floor
windows

over a river
gone solid
where no one skates

and count those copper tubes again
in
the
airport
as
i
leave again

but that was gorbys days

and i was western air

supervised around
that
strange flipside
of
cold war freeze

russias calling-

its price chalked
on the soles
of its awkward
evening shoes
