EASY AS EASY PIE

late night wisdom
flings sundown ideas
underarm & gentle & legion

& my poems spiral there
on the night air
into clever & relevant collections
organised by weather & emotion
& their estimated proximity
to moving bodies of water

& the novels there
feel only
bare finger taps away
all seemingly
so simple
as the easiest easy pie

xanax does that
its a cosy place to dream
holding hands
the night sounds coming in
easy
as easy pie

POEM FOR MY PARENTS-IN-LAW

i wish i had not been broken
so i would have been able to know you both better

i wish i had not been so sick
as to see your home & city only that one time

~

thank you for the cameras & the peppers
thank you for the xanax & the breaded chicken
thank you for your daughter
i am sorry if i kept her away

~

i hope one day in the next world
we will bait our hooks with new wishes
& fish together by a still blue lake

i hope one day in the next world
we can camp together in the forests there
& sleep painlessly under strange new stars

i hope one day in the next world
we can watch all our animals play together
in a sunshine clearing on soft green moss

~

i hope one day i will meet you again
in the place it is youve gone

the place it is where we all go

when we go

why not why not why not

THE YES QUADROPHONE

insights elusive
brainpan flatline

need drums / basic rhythm

two chords enough i reckon

& vocals that frisson

ramones / micra girls

yes

~

i question the questions

with a stubborn silence

useless yes but it feels right

in the
   white rabbits
      late late late
         wormhole blues

~

file me under side effects
for the twitches & itches

& the cool clutter
fights
the spartan dream

poetry was in the olympics once

naked

yes

~

i cross the junkyard mardyke
& count the cows
grazing on the floodplain

inside the steel music
of the blacktop rivers

yes

HERZOGS PENGUIN AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS

i always
think of

herzogs penguin

his long lonely trek
away from the flock
past the hinterland base camp

on
to
the
foodless mountains

~

i always
think of

herzogs penguin

when the coffees strong
or my brain finds
its one working gear

~

herzogs penguin
is
an anecdote
i tell myself
xanaxed shallow
in
the
nights
long
wheeze

~

herzogs penguin
at the mountains of madness

i hope his
tall brothers
look
out
for
him

Some penguins commit suicide, walking away from the sea, alone ...

ITCHES AND TWITCHES - MONDAY POPS

1.

codeine itches
xanax twitches

constipated
invigorated

15 foot tall
laying down

2.

look at us

small pink giants
with
our
plastic handles

designed hallucinations
stuff
our nights fearhole
full

look at us

not nearly meek enough

to
inherit

any
thing

any
more

3.

my fingers

they tear time
like its tissue

&
i
dont
think

i should have

done that
