LOOK BETTER IN THE APP

& i wonder

this thunder morning
when lightning strikes
our old stoner haunt
& the rain comes down
like its behind schedule

if i would

look better in the app

like
everything
else
claims
to

on the sci fi ballast
we clutch like pearls
in our meat-crane hands

DIAGRAM OF A BASTARD HEADACHE

the headache is a classic
boring thru over the left eye

a volatile wormhole dangerous with
pulsing
pulsing
sci fi matter

it is angered if i move

or consider it

~

& the window cleaners
bish & bash & swipe & swish
talking handsfree
about justins cake
tasting like crap

is nails dragged on a chalkboard
thunderclaps & electroshock

is tinfoil & teeth

to
me

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY

they all say

listen to your body
itll tell you what it needs

and they all say this
with a kind of wise nod
i hope i never imitate

if
i
really
listened to my body
tell me what it needs

i would be on the toilet
asleep eating carbs

~

so i take
what my body says
with a pinch of salt
wise cynicism
and a heavy veto

and i listen to the wind
and i worry about the rain
and i keep the cellar door open

writing things
loving things
mocking things
with empathy and kindness
and the meanness of a clown

in northern europe 1984

watching
classic
sci fi
with
a
childs wonder
and
the hindsight
of a god

SOFT PAST - HARD FUTURE

electric smoke
  &
personal terminals

robots on mars
  &
patrolling our sky

perpetual terrorism
  &
corporation owned rain

  i
  am
living the sci-fi
  i
  read
as a child

its like they used it as a manual

~

dystopia oh dystopia

how
innocent
the
20thC
seems
now

when all the horrors
were
analogue

BEFORE THE ALARM

up
before
dawn
i hear the haunted noises the night left out

the slow honk of marsh geese
    black dragon shapes
    against
pale clouds
like
    photo
        negatives
or
peeling paint patches
    on
    back
    alley plaster

i feel Pause and Potential . . . world in a museum

fog horns sad with travel call bored with warning
    and
    theres a low mandrax moan
    of
    working steel
    from
    the
    new cranes
giant
    like sci fi
        on
        the
new dredged banks
