BEREAVED IN RAGS

he saw theyre serving
lobster bisque & onion soup
up on the ISS tonight

& it reminds him
he says
of Gil Scott-Herons poem
Whitey On The Moon

& he tries
to remember
he says
that maybe not everything in the sky
means death all the time

as he waits
out the night
bereaved in rags

DIRT OF NEED

as
comparison inoculation
you
count your blessings

    but
remember
 keep  hands  clean

so
to not tarnish them
with
the dirt of your need

EMPTY AS A TYRE IS EMPTY

theres a moment after we wake

a glimpse out of time
empty as a tyre is empty

before we remember It All

& the day
never does
recover

from this absence
we had
no chance
to prod

TEN YEARS A BLOGGER 4/5

ten years ago i started this blog

i often forget where i got the name
i remember & smile

i have a tattoo of a hatchback on fire
i often forget why

it surprises me in the shower
i remember & smile

'a poem or pic a day until i die or dont'
a bold promise with caveat enough to keep

who doesnt love a good caveat ?

its looks the same today as back then
maybe its has more flames . . .

email notifications have become moribund
custom widgets are beyond my reach

i did enlarge the font following sound advice
but it has always been the same font

it is a time capsule unburied
it is a keeper of secrets shared
it is a mirror to truth - ha !
it is my reservoir / my slush pile

poetry is not a process of conscious decisions

thank fuck

thank you for your continued support

MEMORIES AT THE FRONT DOOR

the woman in mismatched sweats
stuffs
the
phone book
thru the door

( so slim now
  it
  will
  stay
  forever
  in
  its
  plastic coat )

i recognise her from the mall
15
or
20
years
ago

we sold film tie-in plastic tat
and
flat-pack bedroom units

i remember her almost divorce
and
breast cancer scare

her hangovers and her tears

but
i
stay silent behind the front door
when i could have done anything

because

i cannot think of anything
for her
to
remember
about me
