MOON WALLPAPER 3

we
are
cutlery monkeys
&
electric chimps
with
history chips
&
flipside chipsticks
on
kevlar shoulders
&
worn canvas epaulettes
cheered & damned
by
soft slugabeds
supine
in clouds of vanilla mist
&
armchair generals
wild
in a chilli flake rain
all
empathy ducts clogged
&
sympathy holes healed
on
their food padded tv ribs

7 PM POPS

7PM

eating from a bag of chips
in a hillside graveyard

7pm

the dirt piled under the turf
creeps
up
the
ivy held walls

theres crumble cracks here
in turrets of pointed cement

and green has collected
in the flakes
in the corners
of the iron gates

their seams thick and rounded
with a hundred weatherproof coats

and i find a shallow step
to sit on
to stretch on

awkward like i fell there

in the 1898 & 1924
headstone shadows
of

vacant church halls
yellow window squares

SECRET

the high street is spread
like a map
below me

and i feel like a secret

up high
eating alone

on ground fat
with the dead

FOXES

and i feel like
an invisible feeder
a retired predator
separate forever

from the hatchback turnover

and i feel like this
to the baby wails
that night foxes cry
like angels who fell

and cannot climb home

LANDFILL

theyre somewhere off away behind me
on landfill that rolls
under grass like felt

like muscles under cotton

off
into
the scrappy marsh of quicksands
and
twisting creeks of stranded boats

sat unnatural and stationary
the colour of allotment sheds

and dotted like beacons
are teenagers used up

dirt bike

skeletons

TUESDAY POPS

GIVE IT A NAME
(FULL ENGLISH MESSFAST)

my raggedy meat posey
is
a
weep from a wound
i
picked
at
in the cough and surprise
of
first
rising

~

am i pan with angst
dancing like a dad
in dawns hard hinterland
wearing
wife
hemmed
pale
jeans ?

or a field casualty
half fried like burger van bacon
and
clabby
in
the
clubbing
comedown ?

~

give it a name for me

i will write it

on
all
my
shirts
washing labels

in supermarket sharpie

like in little school

YOU CAN TELL THE DEVILS TRYING

but
it
all
feels
like

half-arsed nightmare
among
the
custard cream crumbs
doesnt it ?

peanut dust
in my belly button
again
when the wifis out

and thats ok

its those slices
of overlit hd awareness

sharp as knives

that
tear
open
my
lomographic holga mind
into
a
pocket
apcalypse

you can tell the devils trying
but we are british

all
chips
baked beans
sorries

and a strange malleable birthright

with ketchup on

WELL ELECTRIC BLEEPS

  well the electric noise
 from the retro video game
   coming out my hd tv
     is primitive
      is friend
is old comfy socks for my mind

     i am still here
   i have lasted enough
        that
       these
 noises are nostalgia now

i can enjoy the rose glow
    that never really was

~

 electric beeps back then
they were a hound barking inadequacy
    to my tiny mouse
  confused
down
  by
 the skirting board
      too  few coins
 too  few friends

  electric beeps were acceptance then

  i had games
    i had a disk drive

 and tho kids came round
   they rarely came back again

~

    seaside arcades
    were
  sand and
   sun cream
    shrill alarm bells
 dirty carpets
  clinking change
         cigarette smoke
 smell of chips
     smell of doughnuts
tinny radio on a rock station
      and a fringe of danger

~

   seaside arcades
      were
    hiding in the vampire gloom
     from
  brown tan
 spotless youth
   parading and playing
     with
 Perfection and Purpose
     in
      their
    uninterruptible
  healthysexlife
      drivinglicense
        light

~

i am so full with these flashback
     that
   i
    head
       out
  to the lawn
   for crisp air
    and the
  mental enema
       of
clean and guiltless

      Reflection
        with
   Perspective

FLIP YO

live !
even if in microcosm
live !
the myth values
of
the
fable past

and
dont try - just do

           but
           if
           youre
           really
           really

    not up for ANYTHING today

           i
           understand

           and
flipping your finger
at the fuckers
on
the
6 o clock news
while
you
eat
your whatever and chips

will
do
for
now

NATURES MOTHER GIRTH 2

TOWN

its good to get out there

smell the air and the chip oil
of the
small town
high street
black top

hear the flubflub of hatchback tires
hurry
over
the
london southend rails

its good to get out

out from the painted walls

out where
the
forest
is

looming black backdrop
for sundays
and dogs

weekday invisible

FOREST

a green dressed hinterland
a dark pagan outline
climbing
behind
farms scraped brown sea
where the raggedy ends of town
peter
out
in
old cement and empty wooden halls
and
a rusted gate shut with rope
has lost its fence
in a twisted barbed wire puzzle

and
the
dry and solid girth of earth
and
the
soil and fat turns of roots
are
living
soul
and
jazz

MEMORIES?

the sharp pain in my thumb
whenever i do ANYTHING with that hand
reminds
of
something
i
cannot
place at all

a different and past incapacity maybe
an
old
yesterdays
mortal warning

the musty funk of the big canteen bin out the back corridor
reminds
me
off
the
friday
night
smell of chips shops after last orders
hungry
and
waiting
with condensation windows
of peeling luncheon vouchers decals

so
what
do
my
senses
really know ? really ?
