THE HEADY SMELL OF GLOSSY PLASTIC

was a flash of
the essence of something
lasting as long as a spark would

ESP cologne
barely nebulous
in the living room air

& it was located
at my best guess
just east of the sofa

where the rug delineates
the international waters
of coffee table island

~

it delivered
like scheduled mail

the heady smell of glossy plastic
of an action figures inky black legs

& the sliver of sunlight
silver white
on a saturday morning staircase

& the momentary lightness
of the absence of tension
like only a new toy could mask

LIKE SUNLIGHT

progress is retro
in these timpani days
&
tho there
may be
a void
in us

i am sure
it can shine
like sunlight
on a branch
on a tree
in the shade

TWELVE O CLOCK HIGH

time wraps around noon
like a racecar drifting

& i lean into it
into the tip of time

stereo up
windows down
twelve o clock high

~

& the sunlight
round beechcombe

flashes on the wrecks
in the park

that dared once reach
for a kingdom

& that podium champagne

NATURE POEM OFFCUT FRAGPOP

still does sunlight
punch like bullets

thru the forests
tightest tendril weave

onto the smallest
mightiest mammals

there so unencumbered
in a wildflower niche

LIKE A PHOTO NEGATIVE

the sunlight
is invasive

is heavy
as chefs knives

cutting thru
lime neon
leaves

it makes me feel
like a photo negative
like a hiroshima shadow

i hate how
it gets inside
of me
&
how sad it is
to be irritated
by a star

PERFECT RIPPLES & REAL TERROR

i make perfect ripples

never seen

in the cannonballs splash

~

real terror
is in the
naked sunlight

we are tricked by its gold

the shadows are old hat for horror

come on
admit it -

them old shadow horrors

are old friends

WEDNESDAY POPS AGAIN

ONION GRASS

the wind
is a shout

an order
that moves trees

a base communique
from banished babel

i stand
in the
dead apples
and
onion grass

earthed
on the lawn

ANOTHER POSTCARD FROM BRITAIN

sos sos sos

nationalist pathogen
deliberately released

and tho sunlight
has got to the
smoke and mirrors

it
doesnt
seem
to
matter

SAYS NOTHING TO ME

outside the window
the day throws
the air about

its a half-arsed tantrum

inconsistent
irritating me

the uniform grey sky
says nothing to me

nothing

like listening
to late period radiohead
under cold water
