MIGRAINE #80

the headache says
all the patterned shirts
must stay in the armoire

let them yell
behind closed doors

you reread the braille of scars
& moles
& miscellaneous

waiting for silk wind
in the sandpaper land

dressed in low stimulus grey

KINGS & QUEENS YOU THINK

& born
youre an empty cup
unpourable you think
on midnight embers
unlucky in glass & fads

& grown
youre kings & queens you think
summoning plastic wants
on the amazon wind
drug-bent on the coast roads dawn

& street-sad youre time fried
a take-out beaker you think
in a chiaroscuro smudge-fest-pop

& you
       think
              Think
                     THINK

first time caller - longtime stalker
echo cursed in ash & bauble
on talk radio oblivion fm

ARMOUR MOON, DEMOB REDUX

i always wore armour
under a boozers moon

as heavy
as its
forged past felt

& i called out
for
more fuel more fuel more fuel

~

hell
saw
me
then
vain-glorious in the piss-alley
&
came for my ego in legion

now i am
naked lighter demobbed half-undone

just one more struggle-pup
counting scars & stars

another scratch & sniff sinner
pretending hes won
under a losers moon

satan-lite & cherub thin
unfallen like rehab
sitting on the cement steps

of
our
seaside mongrel nation

Southend-on-Sea has long been a running joke – until now ...

DISHCLOTH RHYME

& all the damaged people
& all the ravaged people

  their
praying knuckles
build payday steeple

  they
hold together
with duct tape
with gypsy heather

  their
blind scars hear
incoming weather

   hung  out  to  dry
dishcloth dirty & unkillable

      under
       the
   budget airline
      scrimshaw sky

AND HELL CAME

  back when i wore armour
  under a boozers moon
it
was
heavy
and
  i
would always
need more fuel

hell
saw
me
then
vain glorious in the piss-alley
and came for my ego in legion

  now i am naked
  lighter
  demobbed and half done
just
another
struggle-pup counting scars and stars
in
our
seaside mongrel nation
