FROM A CREMATORIUM GARDEN, RETAIL PARK BEHIND ME

the marsh
looked like the kind of marsh
something should be rolling in from

but theres only wind
blowing on the ragged robin
the bugle & the horsetail
& on the blackberry brambles

& cows
uncluttered cows
without secrets
bowed & calm

sentinel markers
on the way to the river
to the great canal
to the puget sound
all the water in the world

GOOD KIP AT THE END OF THE WORLD

so all the cows
eat all the corn
that we could eat
so we can eat them

( prob served up on a toilet lid these days
or on a fucking roofing tile )

and all the cars
roll our carbon frames
15 feet to the cornershops
for canned carbs
and chemical clumps
in happy plastic coats

( we go thru sweet treats
like a worm thru soil )

and all this time
the
old
nukes
pile
up
uncounted and loose
their software 100 years old

shall we even pull children anymore
from the dread of our balls ?

and if our world ended
well it would be out of the way then
and
unveiled we could cry ourselves dry
and loot in peace and nostalgia
and
sleep
some
deep animal sleep
at
long
last

( our priorities
  harshly realigned )

MEAT MONEY & OTHER THINGS

    they
cull the badgers
to save the cows
to kill for lunch

 [ i
  suppose
  tb badger mince
  is
  a
  bit gamey ]

    their
    chemical
    warfare
    is
insect genocide
to save cash crops
we leave to rot
    for
    subsidies

 [ no
  money
  in
  bug sandwiches

  not yet
  anyway - prob wont be long tho . . . ]

    they
    use
child-mined super conductors
 in
  every
   single
    electric
     thing
we clutch in our grubby fists
and prod with greasy fingers
and then dump on their beaches
in a dangerous tangle of secrets
    when
    we
    get
     a
   shiny new one

    and
    we
shop away misery
and our complicity
with same day delivery
only one click away
    in
    some
    golden age
    of
    selective plenty

 [ i
  wish
  my
  hands
  were
  cleaner ]
