YOU HAVE THREE HOURS

is

the propagation
of lensflare
in mainstream movies

like heavy metal riffs
in dish liquid ads
mohawks on the catwalk

proof
of
freaks
winning
via permeation

or losing
via appropriation . . ?

you have three hours
no conferring
please show your working out
extra credit for sketches

THE BEST OF KINGS

theres a thickness in the taste
thats like alchemy like medicine
and
it
slides
       d
         o
          w
          n
         the
back of my throat
like a toxic oyster

but i feel like the best of kings

and im walking up the bottle shop
just walking up the bottle shop
for beers and blended scotch
in
the
afternoon love film sunshine
feeling like the best of kings

and i might be sick any minute
and my mouth fills with saliva
and my head might burst open
and i feel like i been kicked
hard in my hollow guts
by
an
angry
cloven
hoof

but still i feel like the best of kings
walking up the bottle shop
just walking up the bottle shop
like im on a catwalk
and i look down
and my dog-arse clothes
look just right just perfect
creased up impeccable
and all the hatchback traffic
is right is proper
is clean and sweet as gta
and i cant talk
i dont think i can talk
if
i
open
my
mouth
there will be a panting wave of drool

so i swallow
i swallow and gurn
like i got hairballs
but i still feel like the best of kings
and i wonder how
i will ask
for the thousand hundred
marlboro lights
i
will
surely
need

but i dont worry
i cant worry
because i am the best of kings
each step is accelerated poetry
robot perfect and james dean cool
and
too
im
v ii b r aa t ii n g
like tuning fork
like a buddhist
inside my streetside
plastic zen

and a part of me
that never goes along
wonders if i get this high
as
a
solid
justifiable
irrefutable
excuse
to spend the next twelve hours

drinking myself
back down

SICK NOTE MANTRAS

1. CATS AND OLD MEN

dont
write
the
whole day off yet

i say to myself
every cracked curtain morning
feeling like a ferrous metal

this is my sick note mantra
i speak it out loud
to the sheets and floating dust
feeling like the saline water
in tescos wafer thin ham

and the cat is there
his paws and claws
in my cheek in my lip
his big round eyes
saying ME ME NOW ME ( IAOW )

and out on the street
the old guys
in beige again
go out for papers 8 am
they're like clockwork again
like national service
half crowns in their hatbands
mumbling daily mail headlines
out by the gatepost

dont write the whole day off yet
i say to myself

give its chill beginning
a sunshine chance

the pillow will be here still later on
i make a pm date with it in my mind

i might feel
a little better might'n i anyway
a little less like a polluted moon
after some coffee

my pills

and
some
juice

2. POSSIBILITIES

and
theres

chance
isn't there

that i might write something
in a shadow of gold leaf
on a gutter hubcap
if i unfold from out of bed
an upward cutlery ape
in the supermarket zoo

and
theres

chance
isn't there

that someone who may not be born yet
may see it may read it one odd day
on a museum piece server
under a leaking tin can megacity dome

and they might halfway feel something
and they might catch a glimpse of something
and maybe then write something themselves

something better
without tricks on loan

in whatever biowired plastic AI dream
we
have
left under the mercury clouds
for
them

3. SHADOW OF GOLD LEAF ON A GUTTER HUBCAP ?

we all live
in the spaces
above our shoes
the windsails pulled down
trimmed into the next seasons
tryhard catwalk conceptions

the catalogue lie of polyester folds
hides our animal ghost
our hot breath relegated
in the toothless tv land
of our reluctant white plaque minds

and out there in the day in the world
the carpet the cement
the macadam and tile
steel and glass
are exile
from
the
meat
of forest earth
