BEDROOM LANDS 5

back
then

we said Boat Drinks
like in that film
like we had control

unthinking
on dry drained
hill marsh land

but our plans had their own plans-

shot up the arse
left in a dumpster

like in
that film

~

back
then
the

s e p a r a t i n g

moves of universal turns
sat messed up and howling
in homebrew sediment

and who were we
to do anything
but
wait and roll ?

~

moves
bit
unstoppable
in
unrememberable
goodbye slices

alone but for horses
i saw a bird
fly backward
in high wind

on the allotment path
one dishcloth day

~

bedroom lands become
unhome rental holes

damage deposits

711 stolen bread

weird vibes
in
the
broken lift stairwell

new pub desperation
sang lionel richie
down
the
landline

~

and the hedgehogs
that patrolled
parent-tended
moon-silver lawns

where we barked our drum beats
till the grey paste dawn

are
gone
too

brian may
tv speaks
his
springwatch concern

BEDROOM LANDS 2

BOAT DRINKS

how to catch
time that
was cliche-shrouded
in accelerator mist
in
even
its
own happening day ?

give it a name-
Boat Drinks

gave it a name

IMPROMPTU ASHTRAYS

soft acre
bedroom lands
fuzz tone
hash brigade
call and find slot

bear corner stragglers
bottle shop delayed
knock and sit and vent

all make
cellophane
ashtrays
from fag pack sleeves
with
yellow retail fingers
blue pizzahut plasters
stuck
on
stub nub string pick thumbs
learning neil young

anything at all
on the CRT TV dust

STEP AWAY
FROM THE
REM

i got a new cd
play this now for me

i would say

to a bedroom full
of amateur guitarists

subtext was-
you lot
dont know shit
about music

listen to the production
i would say
listen to the lack of production
i would say

listen to the drums
listen to that guitar sound

listen how they did it
way back when

now
step away
from
the
REM
