BLUEPRINT FOR ANOTHER POEM

i could start with
maybe that i dreamt
my neighbours
were
all
lego

that maybe they
piled blue mattresses
up on my drive

and maybe i complained reasonably
and
oozed
out
underneath
the
window sill
like an escaping octopus

and maybe next
i will muse
that
heaven can be a place on earth

if you read milton
and
listen to only

pacific ocean blue

for
three
days
straight

and maybe i would tell you
what horrors happened bogside

explaining again
that tired earthy ritual

and
how
i
searched there

for an enigmatic
sign off last line

as thoughtful a goodbye
as the jangle song
of the cistern waterfalls
urgent maintenance rush

and its draining mournful coda hiss
