THE LONG ROAD TO EUSTON

i
was
flung
undone
into a piss-alley valley
of
steel and glass
and
small dark parks
and
i smelt the danger
plainer and stronger
than the oil stink
of
the
chip shop wind
blowing on meat wagons
and
danger-stranger cabs
and
the
bottle shops teemed with tension
box fresh trainers
take-away boys
and
steamed henchman
and
i only wanted scotch
in
a
late night pre fight high street
reaching
chuck-out o clock
at
the
graffiti stops
of
worn red stools
and
tall cocktail fools
and
old ale drinkers swore at their angry dogs
and
i
was
drunk but thirsty
holding tight ready money
hot
flushed
and
sweaty
flung
undone
in
a
bottle shop almost closing
on
the long road to Euston

  1. sounds like one of my cheap russian vodka benders back in the 80's, played out in the same location!
